The new Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder has been unveiled, and it’s really something to behold. The Huracan Performante has been making waves ever since it arrived at the Nurburgring and hit a 6:52 lap.
The drop-top version is not a whole lot different from the Performante, but it’s still unique enough that any Lambo aficionado would want it in his or her garage. Let’s take a look at what else this car has to offer drivers, and what we can expect from it on the road.
When it comes to the Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder, this car is just as fast as the original version, topping out at 202 mph, and hitting 0-60 in a mere 3.1 seconds. Underneath that sleek, gorgeous body is an engine powerful enough to rival many other sports cars. The only cars that can come close to matching this model are the Aventador S and the Lamborghini Urus.
A 5.2 liter V10 which is naturally aspirated and puts out 640 horsepower is enough to make the hair stand up on the back of your neck at the slightest acceleration. It also uses a dual clutch seven-speed transmission that sends huge power to all four of your wheels.
We mentioned that it tops out at 202mph right? Well, it can do that thanks to its special ALA active aero system, which uses a variety of different electronically controlled physical features to increase downforce and improve aerodynamics.
Flaps on the engine lid and the front splitter are able to reduce drag as well, helping you cut tight corners without having to give up any amount of performance in the “straight-line speed” category.
Auto-vectoring is used on the rear wheel in order to apply down force individually on each of them. This helps the car make easier rotations. Lambos typically aren’t known for their proficiency in tight spaces but the Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder is a cut above the rest.
It’s made from mostly carbon fiber, which helped bring the weight down to a full 77 pounds less than the original Spyder, at 3,322lbs. While it’s not the lightest car on the block, it doesn’t need to be thanks to all its downforce and drag-reducing technology.
The weight distribution is at 43% in the front and 57% in the rear, which is probably why it’s so much better at navigating corners than your typical Lamborghini.
There are many things to love about the new Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder, some of which we haven’t even mentioned. It has a soft top which can be electronically lowered or raised in a mere 17 seconds, and a rear window which is spate and can also be lowered or raised at the driver’s whim. Add to that the fact that it’s super nimble while maintaining its incredible power under the hood, and you’ve got a recipe for one bad car. And we mean that in a good way.
